Company History 

Founded in 1982, Elite is the USA’s original and largest private cheer camp organization! Not content to follow the pack, Elite’s founder, Michael Nuzzo, created the private camp concept. This personal environment is a more effective, convenient, and cost-efficient instructional format. Today, private camps account for over 30% of all summer cheer camps!

During Elite’s first summer, Mr. Nuzzo and his partner, Theresa, personally taught each of the 400 cheerleaders. Now, twenty-six years later, Elite will instruct thousands of students in a 40-state area during the summer of 2008! Elite’s staff, comprised of some of the nation’s finest cheerleaders, will travel over 500,000 miles to conduct hundreds of private camps.

Throughout the past twenty-six years, Elite has coached the University of Pittsburgh Cheerleaders & Dance Team. Many of these squads placed in the top ten at the national collegiate level, and won the All-Girl Division in 1992,1993 and 1994…a feat which had never been accomplished. The University of Pittsburgh Cheerleaders continue to make appearances amongst the top teams in the country, most recently an eighth place finish at the 2007 National Championships in Daytona Beach, FL. The daily interaction with cheerleaders on the university level enables our curriculum staff to stay current with all the latest styles and techniques in the cheerleading and dance industry.

Elite is also proud to conduct the Official Pennsylvania Cheerleading and Dance Championships™ held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania each November. This event is Pennsylvania’s original and largest state cheerleading and dance competition. Each year thousands of cheerleaders and dancers compete at our two day event and make lifelong memories with their friends and families. November 2007 marked the first annual Battle in the ‘Burgh™ Open Championship held in Pittsburgh. This championship is open to all-star teams in all states.

Elite National All-Star Championships are held annually at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Columbus, Ohio. We are pleased to offer an event to all-star teams that is challenging, fun and affordable!

As the original private cheer camp, it is our goal to continue to set the pace for all others to follow. We have worked very hard to develop a private camp that is not only affordable and convenient, but effective, fun and centered on top quality instruction.
